Bali Private Driver Planned a Family Beach & Kecak Tour

A personalized South Bali itinerary for a family with children returning from Gili Trawangan.

When Ms. Dorota, Ms. Anna, and Jacek from Poland asked me to organize their next Bali trip, they had just finished a three-day, two-night holiday in Gili Trawangan.

They were traveling with their children, Bartek and Martek, and wanted their next day in Bali to be easy and enjoyable for the whole family.

They asked me to create a flexible itinerary with three things in mind:

• A beach where the children could enjoy some time in the water
• A nearby cafe or restaurant
• A place where they could watch a Kecak Dance without adding another long journey

They were also staying in Kuta after returning from Gili Trawangan.

As their Bali private driver and local trip organizer, I planned the route around their arrival in Sanur, their hotel in Kuta, family-friendly beach time, and the Kecak Dance at Melasti Beach.

Before Gili Trawangan, I Helped Organize Their Fast Boat

Their Bali trip started in Ubud.

From Ubud, I arranged their transfer and helped organize their fast boat tickets to Gili Trawangan.

They then spent 3 days and 2 nights in Gili Trawangan.

Before returning to Bali, they asked me whether it would be better to arrive at Padang Bai or Sanur.

Because their next hotel was in Kuta and they were traveling with children, I recommended Sanur.

From Padang Bai to Kuta, the drive can take around 2.5 hours in normal conditions and can become longer depending on Bali traffic.

From Sanur to Kuta, the journey is generally much shorter.

For this family, I preferred an arrival point that would make the next part of their travel day easier.

So even the fast boat arrival point became part of their personalized itinerary planning.

Their Personalized Bali Family Itinerary

01:00 PM — Arrive at Sanur Port

After their three-day holiday in Gili Trawangan, the family arrived at Sanur at around 1:00 PM.

I was ready to continue their journey by private car.

01:45 PM — Continue to Kuta

We headed directly to their hotel in Kuta.

Because they had just returned from Gili Trawangan, I didn’t add sightseeing immediately after the boat journey.

They could check in, refresh, and have some time to rest before the afternoon program.

02:30 PM — Balinese Lunch at Bali Timbungan

The family wanted to try Balinese food, especially Balinese-style chicken or duck.

So I recommended Bali Timbungan for lunch.

This was based on their personal food request rather than simply following a standard tour restaurant.

03:00 PM — Depart for Melasti Beach

After lunch, we continued toward Melasti Beach in South Bali.

The drive from Kuta took approximately 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

We arrived at around 4:30 PM.

04:30 PM — Family Beach Time at Melasti Beach

The children finally had time to enjoy the beach.

I selected Melasti because it could combine several things the family wanted in one location.

There are areas where the water can feel calmer and more sheltered from the main waves, allowing the children to enjoy some relaxed beach time.

Nearby cafes and restaurants

The family could take a break, have drinks, or find something to eat without needing another long drive.

Kecak Dance at the same destination

Most importantly, they could continue from the beach to the Kecak performance without changing destinations.

This helped keep the afternoon simple for the family.

05:30 PM — Prepare for the Kecak Dance

At around 5:30 PM, we collected their Kecak tickets and prepared for the performance.

The location was convenient because they only needed to continue toward the performance area rather than get back into the car and travel somewhere else.

After the children had spent time at the beach, this made the transition much easier.

06:00–06:45 PM — Kecak Dance at Melasti Beach

The family watched the Kecak Dance performance overlooking the surrounding coastal scenery.

The performance finished at around 6:45 PM.

06:45 PM — Return to Kuta

After the performance, we returned directly to their hotel.

08:00 PM — Arrive at the Hotel

The family arrived back at their hotel in Kuta at around 8:00 PM.

After traveling from Gili Trawangan, enjoying Balinese food, spending time at the beach, and watching the Kecak Dance, they could finish the day and rest at their hotel.

Why I Recommended Sanur Instead of Padang Bai

For travelers returning from Gili Trawangan, choosing the right arrival port can affect the rest of the day.

For this family, I recommended Sanur because their next hotel was in Kuta and they were traveling with children.

The goal wasn’t simply to find a boat arrival point.

It was to make the whole travel day easier.

This is one of the things I consider when helping families organize a personalized Bali itinerary.

Sometimes the best itinerary decision happens before the sightseeing even starts.

Why This Was a Personalized Family Itinerary

The family didn’t ask for a standard South Bali tour.

They gave me several specific requests.

“We want a beach where the children can play.”

So I selected a beach where they could enjoy relaxed family time.

“We want a cafe or restaurant nearby.”

So they didn’t need to travel far after the beach.

“We want to watch Kecak.”

Instead of adding another destination, I selected Melasti because the beach and Kecak performance could be combined in one afternoon.

“We’re returning from Gili Trawangan.”

So I recommended Sanur rather than Padang Bai based on their next destination in Kuta.

The result was a simple route:

Gili Trawangan → Sanur → Kuta → Balinese Lunch → Melasti Beach → Kecak Dance → Kuta

One day, several experiences, without unnecessary backtracking.
